Report on visit to Terra Natura 19th January 2006 On Thursday 19th Jan a party of 27 people enjoyed a beautiful day out at the Benidorm theme park. After the disappointment at the cancellation of the original trip last year due to inclement weather, the group enjoyed a sunny day out. Terra Natura involves a walk round the continents of the world including the flora and fauna, sights and sounds of the very different cultures and environment around the world. Also during the day there were shows of singing and dancing and a short improvised elephants bathtime and lunch. A most pleasant and enjoyable day out. Report on visit to Cuenca, 16th to 18th November 2005 On the 16.17.18 November 29 members of the travel section visited the ancient city of Cuenca the World Heritage Capital of Castilla La Mancha. The outward journey involved a stop at the Bodega of Requena where we saw how the wine and cava were made. After a tasting, people stocked up with cases of wine, then we proceeded to our hotel in Cuenca old town. The hotel was comfortable and had a Spanish feel about it. Several people had rooms overlooking the Rio Huecar Gorge directly opposite the magnificent Parador Hotel. On day two we had a guided walking tour of the old town then after lunch a trip to the Enchanted City, a geological site high in the hills above the snow line. The group enjoyed a crisp sunny walk round the park taking in the sights of the rock formations formed by wind and water millions of years ago. The final morning was for sight seeing and shopping in Cuenca which has several interesting churches and museums, prior to our journey home late afternoon. A relaxing short break during which many new friendships were made. Click on pictures below to see photos: of Cuenca of the Enchanted City
