New item - Living in Javea-Information Package. Click here to view a proposed outline of the the content. Interested in what’s going on (or not going on!) in Javea? Like to put your point of view across? Then why not come and join our friendly group, who meet on a bi-monthly basis, and find out what your local Javea town councillors are getting up to in the old town, the port, and the Arenal. We discuss ideas about how we would like to see the development of Javea so that it continues to be a place where we can all experience a clean and healthy environment, with leisure and social activities for all. We have chosen to come here to enjoy our retirement, so let’s make sure we keep Javea the beautiful place that we fell in love with, here on the Costa Blanca. Ah, but you have “no power”, I hear you saying! Remember the little acorn that grew into a mighty oak over the course of time – first we must all work together to plant that seed! These are some of the projects that we believe are important to Javea’s future:
Maybe your “10-point plan” would highlight different concerns? If so, you now have an opportunity to air them – we listen to everyone’s views and opinions. Let’s talk Javea! Group is an offshoot of the local Agenda21, a non-political process whereby the inhabitants of a town can have a say in plans for the long-term sustainable development of the town. It is part of a UN initiative. Click here for details. Jávea signed up to this initiative and has been running the process since 2004. Proceedings are mostly conducted in Castellano and Valenciano. But since more than half the population of Jávea (Xàbia) consists of foreigners, and half of these are UK citizens, we felt that it would be useful to set up this group to involve u3A members who might otherwise feel sidelined. There is also a Wiki site, updated regularly, to disseminate information in English of interest to Javea’s residents. http://agenda21-xabia.wikidot.com. Here you will find links to useful documents on the web, translations of Spanish news articles, minutes of meetings, diagrams and proposals for development strategies. You have no need to join if you just want to look around. However, becoming a member of this Wiki will entitle you to post comments on the forum and at the bottom of selected articles. If you wish to contribute directly to this site then please apply via this Wiki site. In addition to the resources here, there is a Google News Group for discussion and notices of meetings. Click here to view a flow chart that shows some of the ideas/proposals already in the pipeline, together with a few that arose while this chart was being prepared by some members of this group. We look forward to adding yours too, as well as explaining the process!
