'What is a Foodie? Foodies like food. They are interested in it and have a thirst and hunger for knowledge, a foodie wants to learn about food. They know what they like, why they like it, recognize why some foods are better than others and want to have good tasting food all, or certainly most, of the time. They may occasionally eat out on ‘fast food’, knowing that it is generally not a nutritionally balanced meal, as well as appreciating something special. Do they have to know the difference between rice noodles and cellophane noodles? No, but they might be interested to find out. Do they only shop at local markets or organic stores? No, but they tend to look for good, fresh seasonal produce. Are there foods they don't like or weird foods they do like, are they vegetarians or meat lovers? All of these don't make them any less of a foodie. They like food; they love to learn about food and talk about food and most importantly, eat food. LAST MEETING After a great closing meeting on June 17th with lots of tips and ideas to share and plans for the Foodies Group we celebrated the birthday of Aslam 85 years young! NEXT MEETING The first meeting of the "New Year" will be on Thursday September 16th, 10.30am at the Javea Tennis Club. You just need to buy a coffee or water etc. as the room is free. Gillian and those of us who are around in July and August will meet at the Javea Tennis Club 10.30am on the Thursday 15th of July and the 19th August. Looking forward to seeing you.
