The May Ball

The Jávea U3A are holding a May Ball at El Canor Function Rooms, Teulada on Friday 18th May 2012. The Ball is a non profit making event and there will be entertainment and dancing by the Back Beat 4 Beatles and DJ Eric Taylor. The price per ticket is €35.

The Back Beat 4 Beatles are a superb musical tribute to the world’s best-loved musicians – The Beatles.  The 4 band members Alan Swoffer (John Lennon), Andy Dawson (George Harrison), Oliver Comber (Ringo Starr) and Dale Corcoran (Paul McCartney) are based in Alicante.  Not only does Alan Swoffer possess an uncanny likeness to his hero, but he is also a highly gifted entertainer who brings the persona of John Lennon to the stage in an amazingly accurate portrayal.  He is supported by a cast of hand-picked professional musicians who faithfully recreate the sounds of Lennon live and on record.

DJ/Compere Eric Taylor started running his mobile disco in 1974 and is still running it today. He now does mainly private functions.  On arriving in Spain in 2001 he started working for Coast FM as a radio presenter and has since worked for OCI, Black & White, Fab FM and Heat Gold radio stations.  Eric writes a gig guide and live entertainment news for the Costa Blanca News and Round Town News.  He has organised the Moraira International Music Festival for 7 years.

There will also be a Tombola during the evening with lots of prizes.

The timetable for the evening is as follows:

Members can make up their own tables and in addition there will be a table for new members, solos, couples and groups.

Black tie or lounge suit should be worn.

The menu for the evening is as follows:

Tickets will be on sale to Jávea U3A members from the monthly meeting on the 29th February at the Annual Ball table inside the main hall.  Members will be given a numbered ticket and a menu for course choices and they should also say on this sheet which table they would like to be placed on. 

Tickets can also be booked on line via email - u3a.tickets@gmail.com and once tickets are reserved they must be paid for at the next meeting. Tickets will be limited. One month from the date of this email tickets will be on sale to other U3A organisations and to our families and friends who are not U3A members.

We are already taking reservations for tickets so please don´t delay in advising us of your intentions.  If you are in the UK and will not be returning to Jávea until later in the year, tickets can be reserved and paid for by cheque and they can be held until you return.  Payment for tickets can also be paid for by cheque or bank transfer.

There is also the possibility that a coach can be arranged to pick up members around Jávea and then to the Ball and back.  If you are interested will you please also tick the appropriate box on their menu choice sheet.

This is one of the main events of the Jávea U3A calendar so it is hoped members will support the occasion.

Tea Dance

There will be a Tea Dance on Friday 30th March 2012. It will be held at Social Centre in Jávea from 17:30 until 20:30. 

Eric Taylor will be providing the music.  The tickets will cost €12 and can be collected at the February General Meeting at the Parador or reserved by email at u3a.tickets@gmail.com and paid for at the Parador meeting in February.

The number of tickets are limited and there are only a few left so do not delay in reserving yours.

The dance will take place in the main (bar) area of the Social Centre, just beside the Plaza de la Constitucion, behind the Central Salud.

The seating will be free - grab a table!  There will be  a full English tea with  sandwiches, cakes and scones, plus tea and coffee  included in the price of the ticket. The bar will be open for  the purchase of other refreshments / drinks.
